Four decades of grassroots action rooted in justice, equity, and community empowerment.
Amhi Amchya Arogyasathi emerged from the Sampurna Kranti Andolan and Chhatra Yuva Sangharsha Vahini movements. Our founders transitioned from protest to constructive community action in the 1980s, beginning their work in Gadchiroli district's Wadasa and Armori areas.
Early victories included land rights achievements, implementation of the Employment Guarantee Scheme, and the birth of a self-help movement called "Apan Apala Marg Shodhu Ya!" — meaning "Find Your Own Way."
In 1984, the group formally registered as Amhi Amchya Arogyasathi, committing to holistic community health and sustainable livelihoods through a participatory, rights-based methodology that puts communities at the centre of their own transformation.
"An organized, dynamic community which has internalized justice and equity as its basic tenets and is sensitive towards all life forms. A well-fostered and healthy society, free from exploitation, in which every individual can get equal opportunity for self-development and can exercise rights for a dignified life, with access and control over resources."
